NIFA and NSF Joint Solicitation on Disaster Resilience in Rural Communities

USDA and the National Science Foundation announce funds to support research needed to develop technologies, processes and systems to enhance disaster resilience and sustainability in rural communities. Application deadline is January 20, 2010.

NIFA State and Regional AgrAbility Program

AgrAbility increases the likelihood that individuals with disabilities and their families engaged in production agriculture become more successful. The primary outcome is enhanced quality of life for people with disabilities in agriculture. The program supports cooperative projects in which State Cooperative Extension Services based at either 1862 or 1890 Land-Grant Universities subcontract to private, non-profit disability organizations. Application deadline is December 18, 2009.

Getty Conservation Institute Offers Conservation Guest Scholar Program

The Conservation Guest Scholar Program at the Getty Conservation Institute supports new ideas and perspectives in the field of conservation, providing an opportunity for professionals to pursue scholarly research in an interdisciplinary manner across traditional boundaries. Application deadline is November 1, 2009.

Nominations Sought for 2010 Julius Shiskin Award

Nominations are invited for the annual Julius Shiskin Memorial Award for Economic Statistics. The Award is given in recognition of unusually original and important contributions in the development of economic statistics or in the use of statistics in interpreting the economy. Contributions are recognized for statistical research, development of statistical tools, application of information technology techniques, use of economic statistical programs, management of statistical programs, or developing public understanding of measurement issues.Information is available on the ASA Website.

US Meat Export Federation Request for Proposals

The US Meat Export Federation Request for Proposals regarding potential country specific import requirements for animal / product traceability and the impact on U.S. red meat exports. The funding period is from January 1, 2010-December 31, 2010. Funding for these research projects will be through the USDA/FAS Market Access Program. Recipients will be required to follow the USDA regulations for MAP funding.

NIFA Higher Education Challenge (HEC) Grants Program

USDA announced funding for the Higher Education Challenge Grants Program. Application deadline is February 5, 2010.

NIFA Hispanic-Serving Institutions Education Grants Program

This competitive grants program is intended to promote and strengthen the ability of Hispanic-Serving Institutions to carry out higher education programs in the food and agricultural sciences. Application deadline is February 16, 2010.

Office of Postsecondary Education; Overview Information; Fulbright-Hays Faculty

The Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad Fellowship Program provides opportunities to faculty of institutions of higher education to engage in research abroad. Application deadline is December 1, 2009.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Grants and Opportunities

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellows program is designed to provide the nation's most comprehensive experience at the nexus of health science, policy, and politics in Washington, D.C. The application deadline is November 13, 2009.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Scholars in Health Policy Research program is designed to help develop a new generation of creative health policy thinkers and researchers within the disciplines of economics, political science, and sociology. Application deadline is October 21, 2009.

A collaboration of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Pew Charitable Trust, the Health Impact Project is intended to encourage the use of Health Impact Assessment to help decision-makers better assess proposed policies, projects, and programs with respect to their impact on health so that they may avoid adverse health consequences and costs and improve health.
